Bart is a large Podenco mix boy with a short tan coat and a slim body. He gets along with the other dog in foster called Amora. He has always got on well with his kennel mates and been subservient when he was in Spain and now in foster in the UK, therefore, we need to find a loving home for him with the company of another dog to give him confidence. Bart has been in the Uk for 3 years and has lost his owner so we need to find him another home with an experienced person used to uncertain and timid dogs. When he spends time with you his fears subside and he is a lovely playful dog.
Bart is a gentle, timid, 9 and half year old boy, who likes to run and will chase furries, if he sees any. He stands at approx 29 inches from floor to back. He has been used to a large garden and his own living annexe. They are now having much more lead work and he is good on lead and confident when out. Bart wont have been let off lead in open spaces.
Unfortunately, his owner has died and so it will be a treat for him to have a new warm, comfy home with experienced owners, with an existing friendly dog. A large garden would be a great positive for him too, and small children would worry him, so no children under 15 please.
His Best Points :
Very gentle, but timid lad and a dog that want to please and build up his confidence in new situations.
Foster Report :
Living in an annexe for the last 3 years did not help with his confidence when he arrived, so we are looking for more integration with family life and to get more gentle walks. He is now more outgoing and responds well to change and is happy to meet new visitors. We dont know about cats, and more exposure to travelling in cars is what we are working on

Adopting A DogWatch UK Rescue Dog
Before being adopted, dogs will have been vaccinated, wormed and treated for fleas.
If old enough they will have been neutered, if too young the new owners will need to ensure this is done.
All dogs are microchipped
All new owners can apply for 4 weeks Pet Insurance FREE, to apply please ask us for the pamphlet, our charity reference number is 1400005179.
All new owners will need to change their new dogs microchip information to their contact details. This costs £17. If you would like us to arrange this for you, at a reduced rate of £7.20, we will ask you to do a bank transfer to allow us to register the change.
For Rescue Dogs coming from overseas
This adoption fee is a contribution towards the costs of rescuing the dog including
– microchip, pet passport, vaccines, tests for South European diseases, neutering (IF OLD ENOUGH), parasite treatment and transport to the UK.
We can not home dogs from overseas to people who work full time or long hours, unless some sort of doggy day care is offered. They need someone at home a lot of the day, they are not used to being alone for long periods. A dog walker for an hour out of the day is not enough.
Leaving dogs a long time on their own means they are highly likely to develop separation anxiety which is distressing for them and everyone in their new home.
