Details of Bramble:

This is pretty Bramble, she is a medium girl with a tri-colour, black tan and white, short, soft coat. Bramble is in good bodily condition, she knows some commands, and she has a friendly personality – being very attentive to her carers. She has the tendency to drift towards a favorite carer and can be quite possessive, so needs an experienced owner to keep her attention on all members of the family and correct her right from the start.

Bramble is very affectionate (when she knows you and trusts you) and she likes body contact and sitting near people. She can be nervous meeting new people and on her trips to the vets, but also she has quite specific needs and behaviours which is another reason why she needs an experienced firm owner. Poor girl has been in her new home for just 9 months, and before that, in the pound for 12 months, and now at the age of 4 years she desperately needs a home to settle into and get the discipline and confidence she needs.

She once shared a kennel with other young dogs and they enjoyed each others company, but where she is now she is an only dog. Bramble loves her walks and does not pull on lead. A home with another dog would suit her and no children as she has never been around them.

Note from past owners:

Overall, Bramble is very playful, affectionate sweet and loving. She loves to be with her owners either playing games, training, walking or just relaxing by the sofa or in front of the fire. She is a fantastic dog with lots of potential for the right person and environment. It is clear she has anxiety and fear from her past and this needs to be respected as she gets frightened, but this has become less and less frequent as she has settled with us.
She needs careful management on walks as she has some lead reaction, and monitoring of her resource guarding at home. She needs someone with experience of large dogs with reactive behaviours who have trauma and fear in their past. She needs a firm, experienced, confident but loving hand, someone who will give her affection but be firm also.
She has been trained to wear a muzzle which we use for the vets and in any circumstances where we feel we need that extra measure.
She has responded very well to our training and responds well to slow exposure to things, for example her behaviour around sheep has transformed from reactive to uninterested because she encounters them every day. She thrives on affection and stimulation, and benefits from long walks, training sessions and brain games. She loves splashing in water and we have been slowly working up to a few short swims. She absolutely loved this so it would be wonderful if her new owner could take her to rivers sometimes. She is very food orientated and our training has all been based around food rewards. She is eager to please and learn and would need someone committed to carrying on with her training.

Her Best Points:

Gentle and friendly with other dogs.

Adopting A DogWatch UK Rescue Dog:

Before being adopted, dogs will have been vaccinated, wormed and treated for fleas.
If old enough they will have been neutered, if too young the new owners will need to ensure this is done.
All dogs are microchipped

All new owners will need to change their new dogs microchip information to their contact details. This costs £17. If you would like us to arrange this for you, at a reduced rate of £7.20, we will ask you to do a bank transfer to allow us to register the change.

Homecheck:

All our adoptions are subject to successful homechecks.

The adoption fee is £250.00 for transport plus an adoption fee of £250.00 depending on the breed and age of the cat.  The fee is paid via bank transfer to the UK or Paypal and covers the cost of passport, microchip, vaccines and neutering (if over 6 months) also transport costs/taxes from Spain to the UK.   There is now a deposit for all homechecks of £25 which is deducted from the adoption fee.

If the homecheck fails the £25 will be reimbursed.

If application is withdraw after the homecheck this is non refundable.

All homechecks are now conducted virtually and will be undertaken via video call (using skype, zoom or equivalent).

We will need to meet ALL members of the family living at the address, including children.

Proof of ID and landlord permission is required

For Rescue Dogs coming from overseas:

This adoption fee is a contribution towards the costs of rescuing the dog including
– microchip, pet passport, vaccines, tests for South European diseases, neutering (IF OLD ENOUGH), parasite treatment and transport to the UK.
We can not home dogs from overseas to people who work full time or long hours, unless some sort of doggy day care is offered. They need someone at home a lot of the day, they are not used to being alone for long periods. A dog walker for an hour out of the day is not enough.
Leaving dogs a long time on their own means they are highly likely to develop separation anxiety which is distressing for them and everyone in their new home.
