Large and beautiful is how we would describe Candela – she is a calm, gentle, pretty, tri-coloured Mastin lady. Candela is one of the easiest dogs to look after and she is a sweetheart. Poor girl came into the pound with very low level Leish and with Cherry Eye in both eyes! Candela has now had 4 operations on 1 eye and 3 on the other and she still has some cherry eye but the vet has said it is causing her no issues and it would only need to be operated on to make her look better. Other than this she is a healthy dog.

Candela is such a delight! She is housetrained and she also walks well on a lead. She is good with other dogs and, with slow introduction, can be left alone at home easily for short periods and she  travels well in a car. She is scared of loud noises, but is now OK with traffic and getting there with other noises, but a home in a rural area would suit her. She is apprehensive of meeting new people but she gets used to people quickly and soon wants her ears fussed.  She adores a gentle fuss and is incredibly loving. With her low Leishmaniasis, it is well-managed with inexpensive daily medication (approx £4 for a pack for a month) . Candela would most likely be scared of cats. We think children over 12 would suit her best.

Her Best Points :

Affectionate, easy and good other dogs, sweet disposition

Foster Report:

Sue says Candela is “the most easy dog to look after. She demands nothing” – she’s happy with short walks, long walks, or just chilling at home. She’s house-trained, walks beautifully on a leash, travels perfectly in the car, and can be left alone without a fuss. Basically, she’s a dream!

Adopting A DogWatch UK Rescue Dog

Before being adopted, dogs will have been vaccinated, wormed and treated for fleas.
If old enough they will have been neutered, if too young the new owners will need to ensure this is done.
All dogs are microchipped
All new owners will need to change their new dogs microchip information to their contact details. This costs £17. If you would like us to arrange this for you, at a reduced rate of £7.20, we will ask you to do a bank transfer to allow us to register the change.

For Rescue Dogs coming from overseas

This adoption fee is a contribution towards the costs of rescuing the dog including
– microchip, pet passport, vaccines, tests for South European diseases, neutering (IF OLD ENOUGH), parasite treatment and transport to the UK.
We can not home dogs from overseas to people who work full time or long hours, unless some sort of doggy day care is offered. They need someone at home a lot of the day, they are not used to being alone for long periods. A dog walker for an hour out of the day is not enough.
Leaving dogs a long time on their own means they are highly likely to develop separation anxiety which is distressing for them and everyone in their new home.
