Chester is the most handsome pup! He has a short light brindle coat with a darker masked face and he loves to run around the garden and play. Chester is a beautiful boy, loving, bright and full of curiosity. He loves cuddles and snuggling up with you. He is extremely intelligent and learns commands and tricks, when accompanied by rewards, very quickly. At the moment, he can sit, lie down, heel (close) and leave. He loves walks, but equally loves sniffing around the garden and playing with the tennis ball. He plays very well with other dogs on walks and doesn’t jump up on other people. He can be a little anxious when visitors he doesn’t know arrive, and needs reassurance and time to get used to them (treats also help!) He loves meal times, and eats everything up.
Chester is looking for a new home because he cant share his indoor space with other dogs very well, mainly issues are around food and treats, and so he and one of the other resident dogs don’t get on. We need a new home without other dogs or with a calm older female.
He is a young boisterous pup so we are looking for a home with children no younger than 12 years, and someone experienced that will enjoy taking Chester through his training.
He has never been around cats.
His Best Points:
Very loving and wants lots of cuddles, learns very fast
Foster Report :
Chester has been with us just one month, and we love him very much already. He is now house trained and walks well on the lead. He can sit, heel close, lie down and leave. He has experience with 12, 5 and 7year old children and is fine just as long as they haven’t got food and he will protect them against our other dog (in case the other dog tries to get the food). He is a very clever dog and is easy to train with treat rewards.
He walks well on lead and only pulls on the lead if another dog is ahead, but not badly. If he’s walking alone, he does not pull, but he does not like loud truck noises or fast cars. He likes tug of war games.
He drinks a lot of water, so benefits from regular trips outside. He loves doggy puzzle games, which he figures out immediately, and Kong toys with treats in them. Actually, he loves all dog toys, and as he is still young, it is beneficial for his teeth to be chewing something. He also likes chewing sticks, so those antlers from the pet shop are excellent.
He needs a loving one dog family. When he arrived from Spain he was frightened of traffic noise, this is getting better as he gets used to it and we try to walk him away from busy roads so a more rural home would make him less stressed. He really is an incredibly cuddly, loving little boy with a love of life and curiosity for everything around him – and his best chance at a normal, happy and fulfilled life is one in which there are no other dogs who can compete for food. We will, however, miss him terribly when he goes.
We are working on crate training him so that he has a safe space he can call his own, and he is learning very quickly.

Adopting A DogWatch UK Rescue Dog
Before being adopted, dogs will have been vaccinated, wormed and treated for fleas.
If old enough they will have been neutered, if too young the new owners will need to ensure this is done.
All dogs are microchipped
All new owners can apply for 4 weeks Pet Insurance FREE, to apply please ask us for the pamphlet, our charity reference number is 1400005179.
All new owners will need to change their new dogs microchip information to their contact details. This costs £17. If you would like us to arrange this for you, at a reduced rate of £7.20, we will ask you to do a bank transfer to allow us to register the change.
For Rescue Dogs coming from overseas
This adoption fee is a contribution towards the costs of rescuing the dog including
– microchip, pet passport, vaccines, tests for South European diseases, neutering (IF OLD ENOUGH), parasite treatment and transport to the UK.
We can not home dogs from overseas to people who work full time or long hours, unless some sort of doggy day care is offered. They need someone at home a lot of the day, they are not used to being alone for long periods. A dog walker for an hour out of the day is not enough.
Leaving dogs a long time on their own means they are highly likely to develop separation anxiety which is distressing for them and everyone in their new home.
