Stunning and unusual, white, rough-coat Podenco x girl – this is our lovely Claire. Claire is medium sized Podenco – Terrier mix, with the ears of a Pod and long, wired fur like a Terrier. She has beautiful, bright blue eyes. She was found abandoned, wandering around in a village. She is a bit shy but once she knows you, she is affectionate and playful. She is very sociable with dogs and cats and she is looking for a home with more dogs. She can live with children too, she is gentle with them.

Her Best Points :

Fabulous all rounder.

Foster Report :

Claire is a lovely, calm dog. She was wary when she arrived, she hesitated to approach us and is still gaining confidence, but despite that, she loved getting belly rubs and eating treats from our hands since the first day. She just needs her time to get used to things, like getting inside the house, she likes to sleep in the porch now. She is very sweet, absolutely good-natured, just a gem waiting for the right place to come out of her shell. You can tell she is very eager to make a bond, she is more affectionate each day.

Claire loves playing with our other 3 dogs, she hasn’t had any problem with them and she mostly ignores the cats, she hasn’t tried to chase them or attack them. We are working on teaching her how to walk on a lead, she doesn’t pull but she freezes sometimes, but with sausages and encouragement words she is improving day by day. She is smart as a fox! Better homed in a semi rural or rural area we think

Adopting A DogWatch UK Rescue Dog

Before being adopted, dogs will have been vaccinated, wormed and treated for fleas.
If old enough they will have been neutered, if too young the new owners will need to ensure this is done.
All dogs are microchipped
All new owners can apply for 4 weeks Pet Insurance  FREE, to be activated from the link on our website

For Rescue Dogs coming from overseas

This adoption fee is a contribution towards the costs of rescuing the dog including
– microchip, pet passport, vaccines, tests for South European diseases, neutering (IF OLD ENOUGH), parasite treatment and transport to the UK.
We can not home dogs from overseas to people who work full time or long hours, unless some sort of doggy day care is offered. They need someone at home a lot of the day, they are not used to being alone for long periods. A dog walker for an hour out of the day is not enough.
Leaving dogs a long time on their own means they are highly likely to develop separation anxiety which is distressing for them and everyone in their new home.
