Really nice looking lad with a striking white and tan coat, he stands at 50cm to the shoulder. Cuqui is a shy boy but he is getting better every day and welcomes the staff when they go in to clean and feed him. He spends time getting his tummy rubbed and is happy to play with the other dogs.
Breed : Podenco cross
Age : 2 years
Cuqui is a dog with a sad story to tell. He was found by a young girl in Spain, curled up in a gutter by the side of the road. We think he had been lying there for a few days, waiting for someone to take pity on him.Several people had noticed him but the girl was the only one to contact the rescue to help him.
It had been a particularly cold and wet week and he was suffering from malnutrition and hypothermia. With nowhere dry and warm to sleep, like most street dogs he had survive on what he could find to eat.
Now he is safe in the shelter he is a very loving dog but also incredibly shy. Like so many of these dogs – shy and timid but also so eager to try and make friends, but wary of humans. The shelter volunteers have to show them that not everyone is cruel and heartless. Cuqui is making great progress and he loves his cuddles and chin rubs now.
We don’t think it wont take him long to settle in a new home as once he gets to know you he will be an and affectionate and faithful dog.
He is happy in the refuge for now, safe and he has security but like all our dogs would love to find a family of his own and we think he would like another dog to live with to help his confidence.
We know he will like to live with another dog and we can test him for cats and children if required
