Dennis is a handsome, stocky boy with a silky, brown coat and part white face. He has beautiful, soulful eyes. Dennis came to the shelter in Portugal a short while ago, after being removed from his owner because was being allowed to roam free and had been chasing sheep (thinking it was a fun game!)
Dennis really doesn’t like the shelter at all, he likes his freedom to run and so we are looking for a new home with a decent sized garden for him. Sadly, we cannot allow him to roam freely in the recreation area because we are concerned he may try to escape as he is so unhappy poor boy.
Dennis absolutely loves his walks and to check out all the new smells. Now he gets very excited when he goes out. He is starting to respond to a routine and is a really lovable, friendly boy but it is obvious he is very sad at the shelter. Who wouldn’t be after having a comfortable home?
Whoever falls in love with Dennis would need to understand that he cannot be left alone in a garden at least for the first weeks, until they are sure he’s settled, happy and bonded with his new family. He also should never be off a lead near livestock. Dennis would need to be on a lead, maybe an extendable, for sometime until he learnt how to stay close. Whoever is prepared to help Dennis will, I’m sure, be well rewarded as he is so loyal and attentive once he knows you love him.
His Best Points :
A friendly, steady boy who had a home and has now found himself in the shelter.

Adopting A DogWatch UK Rescue Dog
Before being adopted, dogs will have been vaccinated, wormed and treated for fleas.
If old enough they will have been neutered, if too young the new owners will need to ensure this is done.
All dogs are microchipped
All new owners can apply for 4 weeks Pet Insurance FREE, to be activated from the link on our website
For Rescue Dogs coming from overseas
This adoption fee is a contribution towards the costs of rescuing the dog including
– microchip, pet passport, vaccines, tests for South European diseases, neutering (IF OLD ENOUGH), parasite treatment and transport to the UK.
We can not home dogs from overseas to people who work full time or long hours, unless some sort of doggy day care is offered. They need someone at home a lot of the day, they are not used to being alone for long periods. A dog walker for an hour out of the day is not enough.
Leaving dogs a long time on their own means they are highly likely to develop separation anxiety which is distressing for them and everyone in their new home.
