Well, I say you should adopt me as I turn heads wherever I go. I am a handsome German Shepherd with a semi darker coat and of standard height. if I say so myself and I love being around my human friends. I am well behaved at home and like nothing better than chilling out with my family. I have learnt a few commands and I am eager to learn.
Inside the home, I am a perfect boy and have impeccable manners, I let myself down on walks because I am a strong boy and do jump up when other dogs approach, so I will need some training in this area.
Ideally, the type of owner I need is someone who knows my breeds capabilities, and is firm with me, and can show me what’s acceptable and what’s not. I am a strong dog so someone who is used to larger strong dogs. I am eager to please so Im going to enjoy any form of training and I am ok with children over 10 years. I don’t think I would like to live with a cat
My Best Points :
Calm and loving dog in the home. Knows a few commands, sit, paw, stay etc. Great house manners
Can be left for a short period. Loves to be around humans, chilled.
Foster Report :
Maverick is the most wonderful dog you could ever meet. He is a delight inside the home and is friendly to all guests visiting. He likes time to himself and will seek out affection when he wants it. Although he will follow you around and sit at your feet. He prefers to sleep on the rug in the living room and won’t jump up on the sofa or follow you upstairs. He is a gentle giant to be around in the home. He waits to be fed patiently and doesn’t counter surf or beg for food. He travels great in the car and enjoys coming into work with me once a week, where he loves all the attention he gets, then retires to relax. He can be described as a big softy and everyone who has met him absolutely adores him. He is also great being left for an hour or so, he isn’t destructive but likes the TV or Radio on when you leave and is left with a lovely meaty chew which he enjoys.
Maverick doesn’t cope well when meeting other dogs on walks. Whilst he is great meeting humans on walks, he does not mix well with other dogs or other small furies. He displays lead aggression behaviours such as growling, and excessive lead pulling. Maverick is a large breed dog and is very strong and will try and get to a passing dog or one that he can see in the distance. Whilst distraction techniques have started on this behaviour, it demonstrates to us that Maverick needs a very strong handler and to be homed in a more rural environment where he doesn’t encounter a lot of dogs. He loves being out and about but is always scanning the environment for other animals.

Adopting A DogWatch UK Rescue Dog
Before being adopted, dogs will have been vaccinated, wormed and treated for fleas.
If old enough they will have been neutered, if too young the new owners will need to ensure this is done.
All dogs are microchipped
All new owners can apply for 4 weeks Pet Insurance FREE, to apply please ask us for the pamphlet, our charity reference number is 1400005179.
All new owners will need to change their new dogs microchip information to their contact details. This costs £17. If you would like us to arrange this for you, at a reduced rate of £7.20, we will ask you to do a bank transfer to allow us to register the change.
For Rescue Dogs coming from overseas
This adoption fee is a contribution towards the costs of rescuing the dog including
– microchip, pet passport, vaccines, tests for South European diseases, neutering (IF OLD ENOUGH), parasite treatment and transport to the UK.
We can not home dogs from overseas to people who work full time or long hours, unless some sort of doggy day care is offered. They need someone at home a lot of the day, they are not used to being alone for long periods. A dog walker for an hour out of the day is not enough.
Leaving dogs a long time on their own means they are highly likely to develop separation anxiety which is distressing for them and everyone in their new home.
