Details of Minnie & Mouse

These gorgeous girls are Minnie and Mouse, two Galgo-mix sisters rescued from a dog pound in Castilla Leon, Spain.
Their future looked very grim and it was urgent to get them out and so some volunteers did and the girls were found a foster home and have been there since the beginning, after being rescued from the pound.  They have learnt what it is to be loved and cared for in every way possible, but sadly this foster home is only temporary and they cannot stay there much longer, as it is a flat and neighbours object to animals.

They are both very loving and sweet girls just 2 years and a half approximately, all vaccinated, neutered and blood tested recently done in order to travel to the UK. They have pretty, unusual, light honey coloured, soft coats. They are not compatible with cats and get on well with dogs, Mouse especially well, she seems to be more sociable than Minnie, but they have been in a house with twenty other dogs and they got on well together. They are absolutely wonderful with humans and seek attention and affection, you can handle them with absolutely no problem.

We found that on walks Minnie can get nervous about other dogs, possibly fear but nothing that can’t be fixed with one to one attention.  Mouse seems to have gotten over it mostly, they are both doing so well. The girls are almost 3 years old and they stand at 67cm high to the back, and they currently live in a duplex apartment with terraces. When on a walk, Mouse sometimes does her jobbies out, but they mostly do them on the terrace so I would say they are partially housetrained They are sighthounds, so when out they are more interested on everything going on around them than anything else.  They walk well on a lead but they pull which is something we are now working on.  Whereas they are ok indoors with other dogs, when on walks especially Minnie can get nervous about other dogs, they are not compatible with cats.

Ideally they should be adopted by a family with previous experience with sighthounds and a house with land/garden, they need to run, they are greyhounds, they are lovely in every way. We think children over 12 and no cats would be a good match for them. We can split them to get the right homes but they are used to living with other dogs.

Before being adopted, dogs will have been vaccinated, wormed and treated for fleas.
If old enough they will have been neutered, if too young the new owners will need to ensure this is done.
All dogs are microchipped

All new owners will need to change their new dogs microchip information to their contact details. This costs £17. If you would like us to arrange this for you, at a reduced rate of £7.20, we will ask you to do a bank transfer to allow us to register the change.

Homecheck:

All our adoptions are subject to successful homechecks.

The adoption fee is £250.00 for transport plus an adoption fee of £250.00 depending on the breed and age of the cat.  The fee is paid via bank transfer to the UK or Paypal and covers the cost of passport, microchip, vaccines and neutering (if over 6 months) also transport costs/taxes from Spain to the UK.   There is now a deposit for all homechecks of £25 which is deducted from the adoption fee.

If the homecheck fails the £25 will be reimbursed.

If application is withdraw after the homecheck this is non refundable.

All homechecks are now conducted virtually and will be undertaken via video call (using skype, zoom or equivalent).

We will need to meet ALL members of the family living at the address, including children.

Proof of ID and landlord permission is required

For Rescue Dogs coming from overseas:

This adoption fee is a contribution towards the costs of rescuing the dog including
– microchip, pet passport, vaccines, tests for South European diseases, neutering (IF OLD ENOUGH), parasite treatment and transport to the UK.
We can not home dogs from overseas to people who work full time or long hours, unless some sort of doggy day care is offered. They need someone at home a lot of the day, they are not used to being alone for long periods. A dog walker for an hour out of the day is not enough.
Leaving dogs a long time on their own means they are highly likely to develop separation anxiety which is distressing for them and everyone in their new home.
