Pretty, Podenco girl Nike has a smooth, soft, tan coat and is nearly 5 years old. Nike has come a long way since she went into foster nearly 2 years ago. When she was found, the poor girl was frightened of her own shadow – heart breaking to see. Now, she is a happy, playful girl but is still slightly nervous. She needs to be approached slowly and shown no fuss, as when ignored she will come for fuss and ear rubs.

Nike loves her friends at the shelter as you can see from the photo of them all sun bathing. We are looking for an experienced home with no or older children and no cats, but with another friendly dog.

Nike is an ex hunting dog, so will chase any small creature or bird that moves in your garden. Great on a lead but can react anxiously to unexpected loud noises and will try to run off. An extendable lead will give her the freedom she needs on walks with wanting to be off lead.

Nike needs a quiet relaxed environment, preferably with a confident friend as she gets on really well with other dogs male and female, large and small. Nike has done so well to overcome many of her fears and now needs a loving, supportive home.

Her Best Points :

Adopting A DogWatch UK Rescue Dog

Before being adopted, dogs will have been vaccinated, wormed and treated for fleas.
If old enough they will have been neutered, if too young the new owners will need to ensure this is done.
All dogs are microchipped
All new owners can apply for 4 weeks Pet Insurance  FREE, to be activated from the link on our website

For Rescue Dogs coming from overseas

This adoption fee is a contribution towards the costs of rescuing the dog including
– microchip, pet passport, vaccines, tests for South European diseases, neutering (IF OLD ENOUGH), parasite treatment and transport to the UK.
We can not home dogs from overseas to people who work full time or long hours, unless some sort of doggy day care is offered. They need someone at home a lot of the day, they are not used to being alone for long periods. A dog walker for an hour out of the day is not enough.
Leaving dogs a long time on their own means they are highly likely to develop separation anxiety which is distressing for them and everyone in their new home.
