Samson is a slender, medium-sized Pointer boy, with a short, tan coat and adorable, long ears. He was kept his whole life for hunting, but was not deemed suitable by his former owner, a hunter, so he was surrendered to a rescue in the North of Spain a few months ago. He went from a cold wet kennel, no walks, no human contact, to a lovely foster home with more dogs, where he has learnt that he can be loved and happy. He has a huge heart, he is very affectionate and sociable, but he is still fearful of new things. He needs a family with more dogs living in a rural setting.
His best points :
Totally sociable with other dogs, very gentle, well-natured and affectionate with people.
Samson has gone from completely petrified to a happy, balanced dog in a matter of months. Everything was new to him but he has adapted brilliantly.
He is quite active. He loves running around, jumping and playing with other dogs and long walks on the lead (he doesn’t pull). He is sociable with all dogs. He also loves digging holes but as soon as he is reprimanded, he stops.
He is very, very obedient, and he has never shown any aggression towards other dogs or people. He doesn’t have any resources protection. He is very affectionate, he loves his head rubs. We don’t have children at home but he has been in contact with children before without problem.
He fears loud noises or long sticks like a broom, he runs to hide. He has walked around cities before, with loud traffic, but definitely prefers the countryside. He is house-trained.

Adopting A DogWatch UK Rescue Dog
Before being adopted, dogs will have been vaccinated, wormed and treated for fleas.
If old enough they will have been neutered, if too young the new owners will need to ensure this is done.
All dogs are microchipped
All new owners can apply for 4 weeks Pet Insurance FREE, to apply please ask us for the pamphlet, our charity reference number is 1400005179.
All new owners will need to change their new dogs microchip information to their contact details. This costs £17. If you would like us to arrange this for you, at a reduced rate of £7.20, we will ask you to do a bank transfer to allow us to register the change.
For Rescue Dogs coming from overseas
This adoption fee is a contribution towards the costs of rescuing the dog including
– microchip, pet passport, vaccines, tests for South European diseases, neutering (IF OLD ENOUGH), parasite treatment and transport to the UK.
We can not home dogs from overseas to people who work full time or long hours, unless some sort of doggy day care is offered. They need someone at home a lot of the day, they are not used to being alone for long periods. A dog walker for an hour out of the day is not enough.
Leaving dogs a long time on their own means they are highly likely to develop separation anxiety which is distressing for them and everyone in their new home.
