Little Pip is a 13 years old small Podenco gent, with a tan and white, short coat. He was originally from Spain many years ago and has been living in the UK with 3 other dogs for a long time. Pip stands at 40 cm, so he is one of the smaller breed of Podencos and he is also very smart.
As we said, Pip lived with 3 other dogs and now they all need to be rehomed. Pip and Hoobee his best mate, are together in another rescue that we work with waiting for their forever home together. We make wishes that they will both be adopted very soon so they can enjoy their retirement together, as two calm, gentle dogs.
Pip (and Hoobee) is looking for a new retirement home because of a marriage break up, otherwise they were both very much loved by their old owners and they thought he would be with them for life.
As Pip was a rescue dog from Spain used for hunting, he will chase (even at his age he likes to run) so cannot be homed with cats / chickens etc
Pip had a broken leg whilst he lived in Spain over 10 years ago, so only needs shortish walks these days and he is on medication (Metacam) to keep the pain to a minimum.
He is a loving dog, and he loves fuss and nothing better than to sit outside in the sun or curl up on a warm seat. It would be best in a quiet home with retired adults, but loves everybody he meets and looks after the other dog in the rescue he lives with.
Would suit someone who is home and needs companions and not someone who has cats.
His Best Points :
Friendly loving and walks well on lead. Small enough to be a lapdog!

Adopting A DogWatch UK Rescue Dog
Before being adopted, dogs will have been vaccinated, wormed and treated for fleas.
If old enough they will have been neutered, if too young the new owners will need to ensure this is done.
All dogs are microchipped
All new owners can apply for 4 weeks Pet Insurance FREE, to apply please ask us for the pamphlet, our charity reference number is 1400005179.
All new owners will need to change their new dogs microchip information to their contact details. This costs £17. If you would like us to arrange this for you, at a reduced rate of £7.20, we will ask you to do a bank transfer to allow us to register the change.
For Rescue Dogs coming from overseas
This adoption fee is a contribution towards the costs of rescuing the dog including
– microchip, pet passport, vaccines, tests for South European diseases, neutering (IF OLD ENOUGH), parasite treatment and transport to the UK.
We can not home dogs from overseas to people who work full time or long hours, unless some sort of doggy day care is offered. They need someone at home a lot of the day, they are not used to being alone for long periods. A dog walker for an hour out of the day is not enough.
Leaving dogs a long time on their own means they are highly likely to develop separation anxiety which is distressing for them and everyone in their new home.
