This lovely, gentle, large girl is Rose, a 6 year old Spanish Mastine mix. She has a beautiful thick, light tan, soft coat, and black masked face. Rose recently joined us, with her sister Poppy, from a rescue in Malaga  that was closing down as the owner had passed away.

Poor Rose has been in kennels all her life along with her siblings, all now homed except the two sisters. As you can imagine, the 2 sisters are very bonded, but also very sweet natured and affectionate girls if a little shy still but we are working on exposing her to more new situations to help her confidence.

Both girls have met quite a few dogs at the rescue without issue and now share their garden with young Levi, (  https://www.dogwatchuk.com/levi-podenco-mix-puppy/ ) all 3 play very happily together and its great for them to have their freedom, both girls walk nicely on their lead.

Rose, like Poppy, is being treated for low level leishmania with Alopurinol which is an inexpensive maintenance programme to keep her healthy and safe. Rose is spayed and up to date with her vaccinations. It’s always much harder trying to home 2 dogs together but we would love to try for these lovely sisters.

Due to Rose’s size, we think she is better homed with children over 10 years and she can live with other dogs but we are unsure of being an only dog. She would do well in a rural environment, maybe a farm, small holding or large gardens, and a family used to walking or other outside activities. We haven’t tested her for cats yet

Before being adopted, dogs will have been vaccinated, wormed and treated for fleas.
If old enough they will have been neutered, if too young, then the new owners will need to ensure this is done and proof sent to us once complete. All dogs are microchipped

All new owners will need to change their new dogs microchip information to their contact details. DogwatchUk does this on your behalf so that we know that its been done.

All our adoptions are subject to successful homechecks which are carried out via a video call. There is now a deposit for all homechecks of £25 which is deducted from the adoption fee.
The adoption fee is paid via bank transfer to the UK (or Paypal) and covers the cost of passport, bloods, microchip, vaccines and neutering (if over 6 months) also transport costs/taxes from Spain to the UK.
If you are adopting a UK dog then the process is still the same but there will be no bloods or passport or transport costs.
If the homecheck fails the £25 will be reimbursed.
If the application is withdraw after the homecheck this is non refundable.
Our checker will be given your details to contact you. All homechecks are now conducted virtually and will be undertaken via video call (using skype, zoom or equivalent).
We will need to meet ALL members of the family living at the address, including children.
Proof of ID and landlord permission (if applicable) is required
This adoption fee is a contribution towards the costs of rescuing the dog including
– microchip, pet passport, vaccines, tests for South European diseases, neutering (IF OLD ENOUGH), parasite treatment and transport to the UK.

We can not home dogs from overseas to people who work full time or long hours, unless some sort of doggy day care is offered. They need someone at home a lot of the day, they are not used to being alone for long periods. A dog walker for an hour out of the day is not enough.

Leaving dogs a long time on their own means they are highly likely to develop separation anxiety which is distressing for them and everyone in their new home.

Paid to the Spanish rescue via UK bank account
