This lovely, gentle, large lad is Leo, a 3 year old Spanish Mastin. He has a beautiful, thick, Honey Tiger marking on his coat, white chest and unusual facial markings. This handsome boy came to our attention because he has been waiting in a pound so long for a new home!
Leo is beautifully trained, used to living inside, and a striking looking dog with a beautiful coat, affectionate with people and social with other dogs. He is affectionate and quite playful, calm, and avoids conflict. He walks perfectly well on a leash and is currently in a private boarding facility with other dogs.
Leo is wary of men for the first few days of living with him and so we flag this to ask new owners to be patient with this as he may bark, as it soon changes. He needs to have space to trust men.
Due to Leo’s size, we think he is better homed with children over 10 years and he can live with other dogs or as an only dog. He is used to the lead he will thrive in a rural environment, maybe a farm, small holding or large gardens, and a family used to walking or other outside activities. He ignores cats.

Leo is showing his goofball side. Playful now, loving toys and finding things to carry around (anything he can reach!)
He’s still finding his paws out and about, and he responds well to reassurance. He’s sensitive to noise and tone of voice. Walks nicely on a harness. Has ignored men out on walks. Introduced him to one male friend so far – he was anxious but chose to accept a treat (the power of chicken!) and then chose to stay close and accepted strokes etc. Met older children (boys, 9 & 12) and happy to say hello and have fuss.
No issues with female visitors to the house. Considering he’s only been here 5 days he’s adjusting amazingly well so far. He’s very calm around our older dog and respectful of her. I think he would definitely enjoy the company of another dog. He’s not shown any possessiveness over food or toys.
He’s enjoying having part of his food in treat toys/snuffle mats. He’s also a cuddle monster and would happily be a lap dog… all 43kg of him!

All our adoptions are subject to successful homechecks which are carried out via a video call. There is now a deposit for all homechecks of £25 which is deducted from the adoption fee.
The adoption fee is paid via bank transfer to the UK (or Paypal) and covers the cost of passport, bloods, microchip, vaccines and neutering (if over 6 months) also transport costs/taxes from Spain to the UK.
If you are adopting a UK dog then the process is still the same but there will be no bloods or passport or transport costs.
If the homecheck fails the £25 will be reimbursed.
If the application is withdraw after the homecheck this is non refundable.

We can not home dogs from overseas to people who work full time or long hours, unless some sort of doggy day care is offered. They need someone at home a lot of the day, they are not used to being alone for long periods. A dog walker for an hour out of the day is not enough.
Leaving dogs a long time on their own means they are highly likely to develop separation anxiety which is distressing for them and everyone in their new home.
